Sweet Grilled Plantains
Grilled plantains
Ingredients:
3 black plantains (if you still have a few yellow spots it's ok) Black means they are very ripe.
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp vanilla
5 tbsp butter
3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp paprika
Salt and pepper
Slice plantains lengthwise in half. Preheat grill to high heat, at least 400 degrees. Spray grill or oil grates with towel. Place plantains flesh side down right on the grill. Do not touch them for 15 minutes and close the lid. I combined all of the ingredients above into a metal basting cup and heat it up on the grill. When plantains are ready to move they should not be sticking to the grill. Flip them over and baste them right away with a generous about of glaze. Grill for another 15 minutes on this side. Baste one more time before taking off the grill. Serve right away with extra glaze, if desired.
