Fried Manchego Bites with Honey
Fried manchego
1 pound of aged manchego, cut into bite sized pieces
1 cup of flour
2 cups of Panko bread crumbs
2 eggs
Salt and pepper each dredging dish
Smoked paprika
Honey
2 cups of canola oil
Directions:
Make sure to season each dredging dish with salt and pepper
Use one hand for dry ingredients and one hand for wet.
Run the cheese bites through flour, egg and then bread crumbs. Make sure to press the bread crumbs on all sides. Place on a sheet tray as you continue to bread the rest.
Heat up a large dutch oven with canola oil until it starts to pop. Lower heat to medium. Drop in one cheese bite at a time. It should make noise and look like it’s frying immediately. Toss over one at a time pretty quickly as soon as you see some color coming up the edge of the bite, it’s time to turn. I turn them in the same order that I put them in the pan - even cooking. These won’t take but 2-4 minutes total. Drain on paper towels for a minute.
Transfer to serving plate, sprinkle with smoked paprika and drizzle with honey. Enjoy!
